Classes

It has been our pleasure and a great satisfaction to have been teaching the fine art of wood carving since 1979.

Wood carving classes Betty and Bob Padden have been professional master wood carvers for over 35 years. They have created pieces for such clients as the Walt Disney Company, Anheuser-Busch, the U.S Army's 10th Mountain Division, as well as hundreds of companies across the country. In addition, they are the authors of “Lettering and Sign Carving Workbook”and many articles for “Wood Carving Illustrated” magazine. They have also been featured in such publications as “Country Marketplace,” “Sign Builder's Illustrated”, “Market Square Preview and “Gift ware News” . Betty has also worked as a licensed artist since 2001.

Learn wood carvingOur Classes

We offer instruction in all types of wood carving, from incised, relief and “in the round” or sculpture. You will be shown how to “see” dimensionally, and how to break a project down into manageable steps. Once the carving is complete, we then bring you through the finishing process. You will bring the carving to life with expert instruction in painting in either oils, acrylic or latex finishes. We have guided even the most novice of beginners through the process, from idea to design and layout, onto the carving and painting process with wonderful results. It is a great moment for us to see the look of astonished pleasure and pride on our student's faces when they see their finished piece.
